Fi Zillil Habeeb SAW
Love of Sahabah
Cii Radio | 01 Ramadan 1436/18 June 2015
Allah Taa’lah says in the Quraan Kareem:
Of the believers are men who are true to the pledge which they made with Allah: so from them is he who fulfilled his vow , and from them is he who awaits (his chance), and they have not changed in the least. (Surah Ahzab -23)
This ayah refers to those whom Allah chose to be the Companions of RasulAllah SAW. Those who stood by him SAW, who assisted the Deen of Allah in the harshest conditions, who left their homes to be with him SAW. And why would they not be the best of all people(excluding the Ambiyaa AS) when they sat in the company of the most superior of all mankind.
Hadrat Abdullah IbnMas’ud RA reported Allah’s Messenger (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) as saying, “The best of men are my generation, then those who come next to them, then those who come next to them. Afterwards people will come who will give testimony before swearing an oath, and swear an oath before giving testimony.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
Hadrat Abu Sa’id al Khudri RA reported Allah’s Messenger SAW as saying: Do not revile my Companions; by Him in Whose hand my soul is, if one of you contributed the amount of gold equivalent to Uhud, it would not amount to as much as the handful of one of them, or half of it. (Abu Dawud)
Imam Malik AR said that the pious of the past use to teach their children the love of Abu Bakr(RA) and Umar (RA) as they would teach them a surah of the Quran.
IbnQudamah said “It is from the Sunnah to be pleased with the wives of the Messenger , the mothers of the believers, the pure and innocent. The best of them Khadijah bint Khuwailid and Ayesha al-Sideeqah daughter of al-Sideeq who Allah made innocent in His book, the wife of the Nabi SAW in this world and the next. Whoever slanders her with regards to what Allah stated she’s innocent of is a disbeliever in Allah.
Ali RA named some of his sons Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman.
Hasan RA had a son named Abu Bakr and one Umar.
The wives of Nabi SAW numbered 11 altogether, each nikah ordained and instructed by Allah with numerous benefits for the Ummah.
The beloved SAW was blessed with 4 daughters at a time when daughters were considered as burden and would turn the father’s face dark with disappointment.
When Fathima RA used to enter the room where her father was, he SAW, would stand up, hug her and kiss her. When he returned from any journey, he would first go to see his beloved daughter.
Abu Darda RA said:
“I have not seen anyone who prayed like Prophet peace be upon him after Prophet peace be upon him other than Muawiyah” (RA)
The best of the Ummah are the 4 Khulafaa Rashideen.
IbnAbaas RAsaid that: “His Chosen servants” refer to the companions of MuhammedSAW.
Imam Shafee AR said:Do not smear the companions for verily your adversary will be the Messenger SAW tomorrow.
“Whoever swears the companions of the Prophet r he is a disbeliever even if he fasts and prays and thinks he is a Muslim” Bishr ibn al Harith RA
Allah SubhanahuwaTa’aala declares blanket forgiveness for them:
And the first to lead the way, of the Muhajirin and the Ansar, and those who followed them in goodness – Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him, and He has made ready for them Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will live for ever. That is the supreme triumph. Surah Taubah Ayah 100.
By virtue of this Ayah alone, we are not allowed to say a single bad word against any of them. The most beautiful aspect of this ayah is where Allah describes them as those who are happy with Him as well, their hearts were always pleased with Allah’s decision over their own.
The ‘lowest ranking’ Sahabi is far, far superior to any Wali that came after the Sahabah. After loving the Ambiyaa AS, we love the Sahaba and then the Auliyaa. It should be in order.
Narrated Hadrat ‘Abdullah (bin Mas’ud) (may Allah be pleased with him): On the day of Badr, Hadrat Al-MiqdadRA said, “O Allah’s Messenger! We do not say to you as the children of Israel said to Nabi Musa AS ‘Go you and your Lord and fight you two; we are sitting here, (5:24) but (we say). ‘Proceed, and we are with you.’ “That seemed to delight Allah’s Messenger (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) greatly. (Bukhari)
We are not from amongst them but perhaps in seeking their love, we shall reach them inshaAllah.
Oh Allah we seek to be near You and Your Nabi in following whom he left behind as guardians of the wahi, those who remained in the shade of the beloved and become beloved themselves. The Sahaba RA,
… warriors by day and monks.
Nabi SAW said: A man shall be with whom he loves.
The object of this series is to create the love of Nabi SAW and to introduce the Sahabah RA to us as humans just like us so we may emulate them. Ameen.
